In Like a Lion, Out Like a Lamb
While we haven’t had much snow during March, the temps have been all over the place. With the month of April, we’re that much closer to more sun, higher daytime temps, and the threat of snow and freezing temperatures are lower. In our area, the average last frost date hovers somewhere between May 1-15. Take this into consideration when you’re planting your cool season veggies or hardening off your seedlings.
2017-2018 Apple Season…
Apple season is now finished! Good news though is you only have to wait less than 4 months for it all to begin again. That’s right, local apple season begins as early as mid-July in our area! Our first varieties are best for cooking since they’re tart but when you’re hard up for a fresh, firm, great tasting apple, the Quinte and Vista Bella will work for eating as well (I’ve been known to eat a few just for pure excitement that the new season is underway).
