Ingredients

  • Donut batter:
    2 cup Flour
    3/4 cup Sugar
    1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
    1/4 tsp Nutmeg
    1/4 tsp Cinnamon
    1/2 tsp Salt
    3/4 cup Buttermilk or (3/4 cup Milk + 1/4 tsp Lemon juice or White Vinegar)
    2 beaten Eggs
    2 tbsp melted Butter
    3/4 cup shredded Apples
  • Topping:
    11 oz Kraft Caramels
    1/4 cup Milk
    1/4 cup chopped Nuts

Directions

  1. Add lemon juice to milk (buttermilk substitute
  2. Preheat oven to 425*
  3. Grease donut pan
  4. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, & salt
  5. Add buttermilk, eggs, & butter
  6. Stir just until mixed
  7. Fold in shredded apples
  8. Fill each ring about 2/3 full {make sure it doesn’t top center hole}
  9. Bake about 8 minutes, until tops rebound when pressed
  10. Leave donut in pan for 5 minutes
  11. Remove from pan, set on cooling rack
  12. Unwrap caramels, place in saucepan
  13. Add milk & heat on low until melted, stirring frequently
  14. Allow to cool
  15. Dip cooled donuts in caramel & place on cooling rack
  16. Sprinkle with chopped nuts, if desired
