Visit Bauer’s for a Taste of Fall!
This time of year it is always a nice time to throw something in the crockpot and come home to the savory smells off Fall.  From sweet potatoes to the many varieties of squash on-hand, there are many tastes of fall here at Bauer’s. Choose baking potatoes for your mashed potatoes or use red boilers as smashed potatoes {yum!}; grab some red, white, or yellow sweet onions to go with any {fall or summer} entree and don’t forget to stock up on yellow sweet onions for the winter months too.  Remember… the weather forecast says much cooler temps will arrive as early as tomorrow and linger for at least the next week.  I already have a pork roast planned for the crockpot later this week and you’d best be sure there will be some fresh potatoes & some rutabaga cookin’ in there to keep it company!

Easy Spring Color!
The easiest way to get that much-needed dose of early color is to plant bulbs now!  Choose from daffodils, crocus, and a variety of tulips.  Create mass plantings within your landscape for a eye-catching dramatic effect or sprinkle a few {a dozen or so} bulbs in various areas of your gardens for small pops of color.  Click here to see a great guide for planting bulbs in pots for overwintering in your garage to create easy early-season color at your front door next spring!

Don’t Miss Out!
Have you heard of kohlrabi?  It is a lesser known root vegetable that is great raw or cooked and has the flavor of a radish or turnip.  These giants are a variety of kohlrabi known as Kossak and can get as big as a bowling ball!  Our Kossak kohlrabi are grown locally and while the season is a few months long, it is nearing an end so stop in today and get yours before they’re gone!  Read more about them here

Oh My Gourd… Mums the Word!
From sunny yellow to beautiful bronze, colorful pink to elegant white, we have a selection of mums to fill the rainbow!  Choose a small pot for your doorstep and a bushel basket filled with a mammoth mum for your patio.  There’s a variety of sizes to fit any patio, porch, doorstep, and even your landscape.  We have graceful grasses, calibrachoa petuias, marigolds, and many other fall annuals currently available too for those who aren’t big fans of mums.
Don’t forget to grab some pie pumpkins, gourds & mini pumpkins, and a jack o’ lantern or two.  You can even add in a few large squash to your porch or patio arrangement to complete the look!  If you have space to fill, grab some of our corn shock bundles and a straw bale to round out the season’s décor…. these two items look great next to your mailbox too.
