Apple Pie Bread


  • 1/3c white sugar
  • 2/3c brown sugar
  • ¼c butter, softened
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/3c milk
  • 1 large apple, peeled & chopped
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼c applesauce (you can use ½ c butter instead and skip the sauce)
  • 1½c all-purpose flour


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.  Grease & flour an 8×4 loaf pan
  2. Combine 1/3c brown sugar with cinnamon in small bowl, set aside
  3. With mixer on medium, cream white sugar & remaining brown sugar with butter until fluffy.  Mix in applesauce, beaten eggs, and vanilla
  4. Stir together flour & baking powder.  Add flour to egg mixture along with milk & stir just until combined.  Do not overmix.
  5. Pour half the batter into the greased/floured pan.  Sprinkle with ½ the apples and ½ the cinnamon mixture
  6. Stir the remaining apples into the remaining batter and pour into the pan.  Top with remaining cinnamon mixture
  7. Bake approximately 40 minutes.  Brush topping with melted butter.  Continue baking an additional 5-10 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean
  8. Let cool 10 minutes and remove from pan
